Destination Serenity

It has been a long time coming but this once out of the way location is now becoming one of the hottest areas in Rocky Point. The main reason is that the new Coastal highway that is expected to open this Spring, 2008 will bring a flood of traffic right by its brand new entry. This will be the first development between El Golfo and Rocky Point on the new Coastal highway bringing in a flood of buyers from California and Western Arizona. Buyers from Yuma and Southeast California will now be able to reach Rocky Point faster then Phoenix or Tucson. Many improvements have been made in Laguna Shores and many others are planned. There are million dollars homes and multiple condo projects with great community amenities and services.
According to Wayne Campbell, "the desalination plant will become operation this month and testing is going on right now." The plant was designed with expandable components so as usage goes up they just add another module. This will provide an unlimited supply of drinkable water right to the clients home. The first operational community desalinization project in Rocky Point.
They have their own sewage treatment plant where they will treat the water for use on the planned golf course. Some leveling of the fairways has begun and I am told that they hope to be ready with the first 9 holes by next year. "All underground utilities with fiber optics to the lot line, sewer, water, electric, CATV and high speed internet" says Todd Lyons a long time Rocky Point realtor working at the project. All the streets will be made of paver stones manufactured right on site in their own concrete plant.
Laguna Shores is most proud of its support for the “Wings of Angels Foundation”. The goal for the foundation is to raise money to provide urgent emergency medical help to anyone traveling the remote portion of Highway H85 between Lukeville and Puerto Peñasco. Because of the lack of necessary equipment and services available in Rocky Point, the intention was to upgrade medical facilities and services. Due to the donations received, along with countless fundraisers, the Foundation was able to build an Emergency Medical Facility on Mexico Highway 8 in the Spring of 2005 located at the curve and near to the entry of the Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve. This Emergency facility is fully outfitted with everything necessary to stabilize and transport injured and sick people. The facility is funded wholly by the Laguna Shores development and the “Wings of Angels Foundation”.
